  8. Each of the four partners is building a major new instrument. The Goodman Spectrograph is UNC’s $1.8M contribution.

  10. How do we control it remotely? We build a graphical user interface (“GUI”). [Work done by under- graduate Adam Craine & Professor Cecil] We connect to the spectrograph, wherever it is, via Internet-2.
