  2. Who are we? • Rotary Club of Romsey Test. • We are one of 2 Rotary Clubs in Romsey. • Our Club founded in 1990 & we have 55 Members. • Rotary International is a worldwide organisation of men and women in over 200 countries. • Serve communities at home and overseas.

  3. What is the Walk all about? • A fully organised and managed fund-raising opportunity for your chosen Charity. 650 walkers raised over £45,000 last year • Your Charity receives 75% of funds raised, including the gift aid. • Rotary Charities receive 25% . • Registration fees cover expenses. • We do all the walk management and administration including collecting sponsorship money, including Gift Aid as appropriate and, • We send proceeds direct to your chosen Charity

When and Where? • Sunday October 6th 2013. • Along the beautiful Test Way using the section from St Mary Bourne in north of the county to Romsey. • Choice of 6 starts all finishing in the Memorial park in Romsey. • Distances available - ‘Marathon’ of 25 ½ miles, 16 miles, 12 miles, 8 miles, 5 miles and a ‘family’ stroll of 2 miles. • All walkers are transported from the Crosfield Hall, Romsey, to their chosen start point.

How is it organised? • Fully marshalled and patrolled throughout the Walk.  • St John Ambulance in attendance all day and 3 Ambulances able to respond along the way. • Plenty of toilet stops. • Water available along the walk. • We facilitate the whole day. • 9 years of experience and we are good at it. Well, that is what we are told by charities and walkers!

The Use of ‘Just Giving’ • You contact all potential sponsors by email/newsletter/website . • All sponsors donate to dedicated page on “Just Giving” web site. • Gift Aid added as appropriate. • Sponsorship money forwarded by “Just Giving” on a regular basis to our Charitable Trust and, • We distribute to your chosen charity. • You can also print off a sponsorship form from our Walk web site www.walkthetestway.org.uk “Just Giving” benefit? • Typical “Just Giving” user raised £480 • Typical sponsorship form user raised £100

How can you participate? • Promote the walk to your donor base. • Web Site was improved and updated in 2012 - it is user friendly and ‘open’ for information now and to accept registrations from 6th June 2013. www.walkthetestway.org.uk • Provide a link to your website. • Registration on an individual basis or by groups/teams for your chosen Charity.

  10. How can we help? • Provide leaflets and posters. • Talk to your people. • Introduce you to contacts at other charities who have benefited in the past. • Answer your Questions.

  11. Marketing Suggestions • Articles in your bulletin/newsletter. • Email your donor lists/database. • Public Relations activities via local press and radio. • Posters/leaflets in planned mail-shots. • Include a link to our site via your own website (if you have one).

  12. Rotary Marketing • Posters and leaflets. • Large signage. • Wave FM broadcasts and support. • Local BBC radio. • Local newspaper and Parish magazine articles and reports. • Email reminders to all previous walkers. • Follow up and informative emails to new registrations.

  13. Registration Process • On line or by hard copy from our website www.walkthetestway.org.uk • A simple “walk through” process. • £10 registration charge, £5 for under 16’s, to help cover costs of transport, insurance, administration, emergency first aid cover and signage. • All Walkers advised of departure times in advance.

  14. Group Registration • Nominate Group Leader. • Register all members of group under unique group name. • Set up a common Just Giving web page. • Group Leader to pay-in other sponsorship • Aim for more than one group; • Compete on distance walked, or • Amount raised • Group registration discount not available – the registration fees pay for the expenses of managing the walk.
