CONCEPT OF INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR • The concept of entrepreneur is disciplined in our Civil Code, Article 966: It is considered a businessman who exercises professionally organized economic activity for the production or circulation of goods or services is considered. • Therefore, the individual entrepreneur is the individual who carries on business activity in its own name, assuming the entire risk of the activity.

  3. CANT NOT BE CONSIDERED ENTREPRENUERS • The single paragraph of this article tells us what activities that is not slowed to be regarded as business. • It is not considered an entrepreneur who exerts profession, scientific, literary or artistic, even with the assistance of helpers or employees, unless the profession forms element or the company.

  4. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR • Legal capacity; • Unlimited liability; • It is allowed own a branch; • Its registration at the Board of Trade, where the person submits this form for the registration.

CONCEPT OF INDIVIDUAL MICRO-ENTREPRENEUR (MEI) • The MEI was created by Complementary Law 128/08, and it defined it as: MEI is considered an individual entrepreneur referred to in Article 966 of the Civil Code, which has earned gross revenues in the preceding calendar year, up to R$ 60,000.00 (sixty thousand reais). • We can say that the individual micro-entrepreneur is a kind of individual entrepreneur that has a limitation on annual gross revenue.

  7. THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR AND THE MEI Individual Entrepreneur: • There is no limitation on annual gross revenue; • Can be branch; • Can be a member or manager of other commercial companies; • Record at the Board of Trade, through the Request for Entrepreneur.
