  4. LandForms • With just over a billion people and 2009 estimate it accounts for just over 14% of the world's human population. It also contains the Nile River system, the world's longest, and the massive Sahara Desert, the world's largest.

  5. Humans And The Physical Environments • Northeast Sudan, called Nubian in ancient times, was colonized by Egypt about 2000 BC and was ruled by the Cush kingdom from the 8th cent.

  6. Geographic Factors and Natural Resources……. • Sudan has a very unique geographical location and an area of  about one million square miles. Bordering nine African countries, and also distinguished by its fertile land, heavy rains and the availability of water resources River Nile, Blue Nile, White Nile, Bahr Al- Arab and underground water. • Sudanese land is rich in mineral resources and oil (metal, silver, petrol, natural gazes.

  7. Culture • In Sudan, if you are an important guest, a sheep will be slaughtered in your honor. Many dishes will then be prepared, each more delicious than the last. Favorite meats are lamb and chicken. Rice is the staple starch. Breads are the Arabian Khubz, but the Sudanese also make Kisra, an omelets like pancake which is part of the Sudanese dinner.

  8. Government • The government owns and operates the country's largest farm, a cotton plantation in the central El Gezira region. Otherwise, much of the land is owned by the different tribes. The various nomadic tribes do not make a claim to any particular territory.

  9. Location • Sudan is bounded to the north by Egypt, north-east by the Red Sea, east by Eritrea and Ethiopia, south by Kenya, Uganda and Zaire, west by the central African Republic and Thad, and north-west by Libya
