New Standards • Leadership Network trainings – designed to build capacity district-wide; lead teachers, principals, and district administrators should be designing a systemic roll-out within their districts • Grade-by-grade level expectations/progressions – focus on mastery learning • Greater focus on fewer concepts – go deeper with the intended learning • Course and assessment alignment – curriculum, resource, and assessment alignment to ensure teaching and learning are aligned to new student expectations and high school end-of-course tests • New standards – mean different conversations with professional development and PLCs focused on discussions about new expectations for students • Integrated approach to learning – other content area teachers need to be engaged (science, social studies, technical skills) • Formative assessment strategies – essential in monitoring student growth and learning
