  2. Background • Appointed by Church Council to make recommendations to: • Build on our strengths • Identify areas for improvement • Ensure we are set to meet the challenges of the 21st Century

Process • Audit activities, demographics and priorities • Provoke debate within Church using ‘Of Wood and Stone’ DVD • Identify priorities • Present draft to Church Council • Consult with committee heads • Present to wider Church • Finalise report • Church Council to consider and make firm decisions 3 year outlook updated and reviewed each year

  4. Methodist Church Priorities • God-centred worship and prayer • Support community development and action for justice • Develop confidence in evangelism and the capacity to speak of God and faith • Encourage fresh ways of being a Church • Nurture a culture which is people-centred and flexible

  5. Questions • What are our core values? • What do they imply for what we want to do and to be as a Church? • Is our environment consistent with what we want to do and to be?

  6. Wesley Place Mission • To worship God and deepen our Christian lives • To be an inviting, welcoming and witnessing fellowship • To care for one another as a church family • To serve the wider community

  7. Vision • To become the centre of the community alive 24 hours 7 days a week • For each of us to say ‘I will’ not ‘We should’ • For each of us to give of our time and talents for the Lord

  8. Vision • Partner with U3A • Build infrastructure to support • Change and grow • Increasingly move focus to families and young people

  9. Worship and Mission • Revive worship committee • New expressions • New house groups • Adult and YPF • Implement ‘Bible Fresh’ • Christian library • Increase focus on local projects

  10. Pastoral • Develop formal structure with clear terms of reference • Draw existing and potential strands together • Welcome process and welcome pack

  11. Family Activities targeted at • Full-time employed • Young adults • Life groups • 025 and holiday club • Get to know the congregation breakfasts
