  2. Charge for the 2nd CDIAC UWG Meeting We seek the User Working Group’s comments on CDIAC’s ► data management practices ► data summaries ► research quality and focus ► information technology activities ► appropriateness and boldness of our future plans Specifically, we ask that the UWG prepare a brief report to capture key points and to summarize comments and recommendations stemming from this second CDIAC UWG meeting.

  3. The report should address each of the five major subject areas presented …. • Subject Area 1. Support of the ORNL Climate Change Program • Subject Area 2. Core CDIAC Data Areas • Subject Area 3. Fossil-Fuel Carbon Emissions • Subject Area 4. Information Technology and Data Services • Subject Area 5. Support for Large-Scale Projects and Future Ecosystem-level Experiments

  4. The report … and respond to the following questions and considerations: • What is the magnitude of our utility to DOE, the ORNL Climate Change Program, and the climate change research community? • Quality of work (data products, documentation, publications, analyses, etc.) • Quality of services (target audience, outreach, availability and ease of use, etc.) • Emphasis and priorities • What is the scientific impact of our activities? • Productivity (publications, data products, analyses, etc.) • Collaborative projects, interdisciplinary projects • Contributions to synthesis and modeling activities • How appropriate are our plans for future data, research, and information technology activities? • Relevance and importance of our plans to climate-change science, DOE needs, and CDIAC users • Relevance and appropriateness of the plans for CDIAC • Strategic partnerships • Staffing, resource allocation, and infrastructure • Responsiveness to UWG comments from the last UWG meeting
