Introduction • Rain Water Harvesting Programme (RWHP)- OSS • HH and institutional Support to DoE, DARD, DoH and NGO,s • Lead by DWA • Mandated to ensure availability of water in the Province • Provision of RWH equipment for Agricultural purposes • Provincial Task Team: sister Departments • Bi-monthly meetings

Targeting and Identification • HH, Institutions and NGO’s working with subsistence farmers • 10 districts of the province • Existing Garden • Rectangular structures with Zinc or tile roof: not rondavels yet • Provincial Government Departments through District offices • DARD- Agricultural Advisors • Challenging process: • Late communication • Uncoordinated identification and duplicate support

RWH 2014/2015 Planning & Approach • The KZN DWA Office’s approach is to link the RWH programme to the Provincial Department’s of Agriculture & Education; and their “House Hold garden”& “Nutrition” Programmes, respectively. • Beneficiaries have also been identified through: • NGO application via National Dept. of Agriculture • KZN Premier’s office.

Planning & Approach… • KZN DARD- Districts ID needy 2013/14 HH garden beneficiaries • KZN DoE- District NSNP AD ID qualifying schools • Process initiated in March 2014 • Lists submitted by KZN DARD 10th May 2014 • Pre-verification to be undertaken between 22 May and 30 June 2014 • Draft approach plan : 20 June 2014 • PSC : 23 June 2014 • Finalisation of the Regional IA by 30 June 2014
