Grading Policy • Please be advised that no late work will be accepted. • Any lab reports not turned in on the due date will receive a zero. • Also, lab reports need to be completed in the correct Interactive Science Notebook (graph composition book). • Extra Credit - There will be one extra credit assignment per grading period which will count as a mandatory assignment but it will not affect GPA if not completed. • Students also earn points as extra credit for lab activities

  3. Grading Policy Continued… • Homework – 1 grade • Classwork – 1 grades • Labs or Mini Labs - 2 grades • Tests or Quizzes – 2 or 3 grades • Grading Scale for assignments-------------Conduct by % • 90-100% or 3.5 – above = A • 80-89% or 2.5 – 3.49 = B • 70-79% or 1.5 – 2.49 = C • 60-69% or 1.0 – 1.49 = D • 59%  or 0 = F

  4. 7th Grade Comprehensive Science 2 • In order to continue in advanced (Physical Science - High School credit course next year)… • Students have to earn a B average or higher this school year • Students have to have teacher recommendation.

  5. FCAT – Science Assessments • FCAT Science Test will be April 13- May 8 (8thGrade) • If it is not passed then it affects staying in or taking advanced courses and electives. • FCAT is being phased out in other subject areas but not in Science. • http://www.fsassessments.org/ • EOC (End of Course Exams) May 11-June 5 • 7th Grade Science!! • Testing involves Online Pretest and Posttest (1 grade for gains) and Quarterly Assessments (not graded) as well as EOC.

SCIENCE FAIR • Science Fair Projects will begin Week of September 22ndhttp://science.dadeschools.net • MLK8 Science Fair will be week of November 24, 2014 • Finalists will be chosen this week and judged. Science Night TBA in December • 15 students will be chosen to represent our school at the South Regional Science Fair. • Forms for this event are due by December 11, 2014. • South Regional Science Fair will be February 7, 2015.
