Register now for February 2010, May 2010 or February 2011 • 6 month / 1 year Professional Field Guide • Level 1 Course • You will qualify with: • FGASA Level 1 • FGASA Back-up Trails Guide (subject to conditions) • FGASA Marine Guide (Subject to conditions) • PADI Diving Certificate (Subject to conditions) • Wilderness First Aid Certificate (Subject to Conditions) • Programmes are endorsed by the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa.

  15. What will you do? • Your training will cover: • Practical guiding skills • Rifle handling • Use of equipment • Driving skills • Tracking Skills • Communication & Interpretation • Field Identification of mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, plants and trees.

  16. Practical Experience • Thanda Private Game Reserve • Bayete Zulu Boutique Lodge • Leopard Mountain • White Elephant Safari Lodge • 6 month practical placement at one of the lodges or reserves we are associated with. (This is subject to your passing the necessary modules for placement)

  17. The Training Venues . . . The College is situated on the Thanda Private Game Reserve in Northern Zululand, South Africa . The reserve falls within the Maputaland Global Biodiversity Hotspot and is regarding as an area of outstanding biodiversity. The Reserve is home to the Big 5 (which includes Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Leopard and Lion. Cheetah, Wild Dogs and Black Rhino also roam freely on the reserve. The reserve is situated between the Zululand towns of Mkuze and Hluhluwe and is surrounded by private reserves and national parks such as Mkuze Game Reserve, HluhluweUmfolozi, Zuluand Rhino Reserve and the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park.
