FLTC MISSION • Conduct high quality language training for MoD-ARM. • Achieve NATO Partnership Goal / PG-0355: Language training & proficiency • English (French, German, Italian, Turkish, Greek) • Enable efficient interoperability with NATO • Enhance communication and access to knowledge within our military work environment • STANAG tests produced and administered by FLTC.

  5. TYPES OF ELT COURSESCURRENT AND PLANNED • Intensive: 4-6 hrs per day • Semi-intensive: 2-3 hrs per day • Courses for declared units mainly • One-to-one for senior leaders • Military terminology course for senior leaders/key personnel • Teacher training courses/seminars

  6. SCOPE OF ELT ELT in current year 2007: • 11 training sites • 20 teachers + 3 instructors • 380 students; 32 courses - Elementary through Advanced - Soldier to State advisor

OHRID: • 2 semi-intensive • VELES: • 2 semi-intensive • PETROVEC: • 1 intensive • KUMANOVO: • 4 semi-intensive • SKOPJE: • 8 intensive • 6 semi-intensive • SKOPJE: • 8 intensive • 6 semi-intensive • TETOVO: • 2 intensive • STIP: • 3 intensive + 2 semi-intensive • KICEVO: • 2 semi-intensive • current sites and courses

  9. INTERCULTURAL AWARENESS • Are we aware? • Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Serbs und viele mehr!!?? • Orthodox, Catholics, Muslims… • Don’t learn/teach = practice • Use the resources (people) daily

  11. INTERCULTURAL AWARENESS • Don‘t: • cross your legs • point your finger/foot • lough loudly/be too quiet • drink up your drink/do • wave your hands • refuse your host • ask a woman her age • Result: robot without personality • host will see through you
