April Update • Technology Initiative: • Vision: AIAA needs to adopt 21st technology solutions to improve TC and conference experiences or risk being irrelevant and left behind • Video and/or teleconferencing, Web Conferencing, Collaboration Sites, Social Networking, etc. • Technology wedge: • Proposed $5000 technology wedge for Space 2011 and beyond • Allocated by planning committee to address dilemma that great technology ideas emerge well after conference budget is set • Technology Survey: • http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&pli=1&formkey=dGdxd3VTREpjVG42MXotdU5QSkQyRXc6MA • Initial roll-out – SMG TCs and PCs • After initial tweaks, all TAC TCs and PCs • Identify highest payoff areas to pursue • Awards • Nominations for Exceptional Service Award are now flowing well – thank you! • Please try to limit nominations to ‘Exceptional Service’

Discussion points SMG: Less than 20% Representation from Academia >30% of our members have been in the same TC for > five years Similar trends in some (not all) TCs Representation (Academia/Industry/Govt) in some TCs seems skewed – which may be appropriate in some areas Bottom line: Each TC should consider their current profile and, as appropriate, set goals and actions to improve Plan to hold Telecon with Membership chairs/TC chairs in next few weeks to provide forum to share best practices and concerns
