  1. Information Technology Issues This series of slides and discussion relate to various issues/elements impacting your ability to logon to various information systems. It is imperative you authenticate your identity with NEO after receiving your UIN, logon to Oasis, and report any trouble immediately so issues can be addressed to allow your smooth transition to the start of classes. IT related problems report to helpdesk@tamhsc.edu http://services.tamu.edu/netid-activate/ NEO and Net ID logon portal (same).

  2. Universal Identification Number - UIN • The Texas A&M HSC Office of the Registrar communicates the UIN to the student when officially matriculated with the School of Rural Public Health via myHSC portal, and to your SRPH email address. The Registrar can be reached at 979-862-3430. • Also, you will receive an email to your personal email on authentication in the HSC systems. Please follow this process diligently to acquire access to the various student systems. • Banner is the student information system used in registration, student billing issues, and web payment, but you will access via the myHSC portal. • Other systems require successful authentication before access can be granted into Transportation Services, E-Learning, Web CT, and Blackboard Vista. These are systems you will at some point need to access during your time as a student.

Registration • Installment payment plans are only available during fall & spring terms (state law). • Sports pass options for Texas A&M NCAA sporting events are available, contact Student Business Services at (979) 458-2885 with questions. • If you do not remit the required payment by the due date you will be dropped from enrollment and incur a late payment fee, late registration fee, and reinstatement fee to be reinstated. • Payments are due by 5:00 PM the last business day before the first day of classes, regardless of the term.

E-mail & myHSC • Please adapt your e-mail practices now to understand within the School and HSC in general there are two primary components of conveying information outside of the classroom. • E-mail, speaks for itself. Electronic message communication. • myHSC portal where you will access most information outside of classroom activities.

  5. Distance Education (DE), Web-based Classes, & Technology Requirements • Please refer to the technology recommendations found at http://www.srph.tamhsc.edu/office-of-distance-education/technical-specifications.html. • Students whom are DE, or taking web-based courses will at some point access the E-Learning web portal for Blackboard Vista and/or WebCT learning elements. If you do not have the required computing capability you may experience problems with addressing course needs. • http://elearning.tamu.edu/ • Special note on DE and Web based courses. Most often faculty presenting will have advance information you will need, please make sure you have made contact with the instructor in these courses to find out what your responsibilities are on these course venues.

  7. Final Comments • With the exception of E-Learning all students will need to be able to access SRPH E-mail and myHSC immediately. Transportation Services if you wish to pursue a parking permit. • You will need to possess the required computing technology to be successful during your time with the School. • All computing problems can be routed to helpdesk@tamhsc.edu via E-mail, or phoned to 979-862-8029.
