  1. Department of Computer Science HCSTinvites Dr. GursaranSrivastavaDepartment of Mathematics, Faculty of Science Dayalbagh Educational Instituteto deliver a talk entitled"Swarm Intelligence and Optimization” Wednesday 15th February 2012, 2.00 PM to 4.00 PMVenueMedia Centre, HCSTInterested Students, Faculty and Staff members are welcome to attendTheme of the Talk: Swarm Intelligence is an artificial intelligence (AI) technique that focuses on studying the collective behavior of a decentralized system made up by a population of simple agents interacting locally with each other and with the environment. Although there is typically no centralized control dictating the behavior of the agents, local interactions among the agents often cause a global pattern to emerge. Examples of systems like this can be found abundant in nature, including ant colonies, bird flocking, animal herding, honey bees, bacteria, and many more. When swarm intelligence is taken into use in control and monitoring systems, it can replace traditional programmable logic controllers (PLC) Potential applications for swarm robotics include tasks that demand for miniaturization (nano-robotics, microbotics), like distributed sensing tasks in micro-machinery or the human body.
