  2. ABOUT GLOBAL BRIGADES 450 GLOBAL BRIGADES COLLEGE CHAPTERS Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Each year, Global Brigades mobilizes thousands of university students and professionals through nine skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members in Ghana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama to improve quality of life in under resourced regions while respecting local culture. In collaboration with local government agencies and communities, and with the support of volunteers, Global Brigades has developed a holistic model for development in the communities where it works. This model includes the preparation, delivery, and follow-up of programs to ensure sustainability. 1.5 MILLION HOURS OF SERVICE DONATED BY 22,000+ VOLUNTEERS (above) Medical Brigade volunteer prepares patient for doctor consultation (below) Microfinance Brigade volunteer consults small business owners on financial planning 300,000+ PATIENTS SERVED $70K IN LOANS & SAVINGS 6 LARGE PROJECTS CONSTRUCTED 200+ LATRINES BUILT 4,000 WITH CLEAN DRINKING WATER 6,000 PR0-BONO LEGALHOURS JOINING A BRIGADE 1-2 WEEK VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS Global Brigades operates through student-led university chapters. To join a brigade, first check your university’s club directory to see if your university already has a Global Brigades chapter for your program of interest. If a chapter does not exist, you can start a chapter! Brigades are available for 7+ days in Ghana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Fundraising goals to participate in programs may range from $750-$950 (not including airfare) per volunteer depending on the country and length of brigade. Chapter Presidents with brigades of 20+ volunteers (30+ for medical) may receive a scholarship for their program contribution. Architecture Brigaders practice sustainable design and construction methods to build schools and clinics. Business &Microfinance Brigaders consult families to receive life-changing business loans or establish their first savings accounts. Environmental Brigaders work with families to implement income producing permaculture gardens and sustainable forestry. Human Rights Brigaders work in mobile legal clinics along side local attorneys to support families with legal needs. Medical & Dental Brigaders assist in mobile medical and dental clinics and shadow healthcare professionals in treating patients. Public Health Brigaders work alongside families to build up to 5 projects that dramatically improve in-home health. Water Brigaderswork with local engineers and families to construct full scale water systems .
