  1. How to increase metabolism By jasmine-beauty.com

  2. Definition of metabolism • Metabolism is the rate at which your bodyburns calories. • Very few people have a fast metabolism. • A faster metabolism will enable you to lose more weight than a person with the same activity level, diet, and weight.

  3. Factors affect your metabolism • Age - Metabolic rate decreases 5% every 10 years, after the age of 40, partly because of decreased muscle mass.

  4. Gender - Men generally burn calories more quickly than women because they have more muscle tissue.

  5. Heredity - You can inherit your metabolic rate from previous generations.[

  6. Thyroid disorder - Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland) and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland) can slow down or speed up metabolism, but only 3% and .3% of the population have hypo- and hyperthyroidism respectively.

  7. Weight - different tissues of your body contribute different amounts to resting metabolism. Muscle contributes more than fat per unit mass and, because it is denser than fat, muscle contributes much more per unit volume.

  8. Here are some ways to boost your metabolism, so you can burn fat fast: • Add breakfast to your daily meal planner. Although many people don’t like eating breakfast, breakfast gives your body to launch your metabolism.

  9. Another way to increase your metabolism is to add spices to your food. According to the U.S. Agricultural Research Service, Cinnamon is one spice that increases your metabolism twentyfold — and all you have to ingest is a mere 1/4 to 1 tsp per day!

  10. While you’re planning your meals, you may want to add vitamin C, but if you add 500 mg of it to your day, you burn up to 39% more fat when you’re exercising. Don’t get too much C, though, because once you get to the 2,000 mg mark, you start experiencing adverse effects like bloating, gas, and diarrhea.

  11. Before exercise drink a cup of green tea, it will help you burn your fat faster. Researchers believe that this happens because of the high concentration of antioxidants in green tea. Your body tends to store toxins and free radicals in your fat cells.   • Antioxidants will help purge the fat cells of the toxins.  Taking green tea before exercise will enhance the fat burning effects because while you exercise your body produces free radicals and inflammation.  The green tea will enhance the immune system response and neutralize the free radicals.   • A new study in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports shows how green tea can help with fat burning.  The study took a group of trained men and gave half the group green tea and the other half a placebo before exercise.  The results showed that the green tea group burned more fat.  Green Tea is a great natural way to enhance fat burning and speed recovery.

  12. Another metabolism boosting measure is to watch what you drink. Adding ice to a drink makes your body work harder because it has to heat it up in your stomach, which increases your metabolism. • Also, ingesting a caffeine drink like coffee or tea can raise your heart rate and increase your metabolism. Caffeine increases overall metabolism, hence why it can be good to have some in a day.  • But too much can speed you up too much, and that isn't good either because of increased heart rat, jitteriness, and accompanying anxiety.

  13. Make sure you’re getting enough chromium in your diet to help your body burn more calories. Chromium, which is found in tomatoes and in a supplement form, also boosts the way you burn fat. • According to MedlinePlus, meat, eggs, green pepper, apples, banana and spinach are also good sources of chromium. When you supplement 120 mcg of chromium daily, your body benefits by revving up its metabolism.

  14. If you really want to kick-start your metabolism, you may also try dividing your meals up into smaller portions that you eat more often throughout the day. Every time you eat, it helps your metabolism rise, so as strange as it may sound, eating frequently can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

  15. Boost metabolism with weight training. Muscle burns more calories than fat does, so the more muscle you build, the higher your resting metabolic rate (RMR) will be. Every muscle cell that you gain is like a little factory that constantly burns calories for you, even while you sleep, and revs up when you exercise.
