  1. Diversity in London

  2. We chose this subject ;diversity in London because it illustrates London the best. It is also something that the rest of the world may not be able to see unfortunately. We want to tell the story of multicultural london via interviews with people, converstions with them where they will hare their experiences with us . We would focus on people not originally from britain and their story on how they came to the UK and how is it to live in country you were not born in .

  3. In terms of the elements of documenting, we will be filming during the weekends because it will be perfect to talk to people . People will not be in a rush or busy ,and on weekends peole are more relaxed and have more time on their hands so easy to talk to .

  4. We were thinking about filming in different part of London to show diffrierent cultures and communities

  5. Brixton has been considered the home of London's West Indian community, the first Jamaican immigrants settled there after arriving on the Empire Windrush in 1948. Following this Many new arrivals ended up in the area because they were temporarily given houses in Clapham South, and the closest employment centre was in Brixton.

  6. Edgware Road is more of an Arab area. Walking around in Edgware road,There are lots of cafes ,restaurants and shops and shisha. People sit in cafes;drink tea, smoke shisha ,watch arabs tv , they have conersations and listen to music. " But the big influx started in the 1970s and was fuelled by the Arabian Gulf oil boom, civil war in Lebanon and unrest in Algeria. "Edgware Road has been the first point of call for many newcomers to London, said Chris Doyle, director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding."

  7. London's first Chinatown was actually in the Docklands, until the area was devastated by bombing during the Second World War. The current Chinatown in Soho, is famous for its Chinese restaurants, did not develop till the 1970s. Today it is more of a retail than residential area.

  8. Elephant Castle is also known to be a latino area . With lots latinos and spanish immigrants . In the elephant and castle shopping center they have a lot of restaurants and shops. The Elephant and Castle area is another treasure trove of Latin consumables, with shops stocking produce from Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Argentina etc...

  9. Brixton -carribean area chinatown -Asian Borough market-white area Edgware Road –arabs area elephant castle- latino area

  10. We also looked at a short documentary similar to what we want to do with the same subject matter made by student from cambridge univeristy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zylUmIuRaAwgd

  11. We then looked at different films that relates to multiculturalism in london such as miracle in soho and dirty pretty things. Stephen Frears is fascinated by the multicultural side of London, and how immigrants live in London . He also made another film called "Sammie and Rosie Get Laid"

  12. For this project, we decided to focus on a community called ACS it is a Caribbean and African community here at the university of East London. They create events, gathering , boat parties etc.. They help first year students and new students to make friends ,to get involved in the university life and also make them part of community. We thought it would a perfect idea to focus our project on them they since they are all originally from a non-English background. Our aim is to find out about people different experiences here in London. We want to follow them during their meeting find out what they are about and how they go about
