  4. Instrumental - making something happen; helpful; serving to promote an object; mental(adj): from Latin: mens, mentis: the mind - pertaining to the mind; done in the mind, especially in the mind alone, without outward expression. There is no health without mental health ... our mental health governs how we think, feel, decide, behave

  5. Elemental • describing the essential parts of things; • the components that make the whole • Core components for mental wellbeing: • having a sense of control • being resilient and able to access coping resources • feeling included and able to participate

  6. Fundamental • the basis of all other things; • primary, important, essential

  7. Developmental • bringing out what is latent; • to cause to grow or to advance

  8. Incremental - describing the amounts added or increased; step-by-step change

  9. Experimental - trying out new styles or techniques

  10. Departmental - relating to a special or allotted function, duty or competence

  11. Interdepartmental - describing the connections between departments

Governmental • pertaining to government: • ruling, managing, controlling; the body of persons authorised to administer the law … variations in health outcomes among our communities… are just not acceptable. .. We need to act together, to work together, and to take the responsibility for achieving better shared outcomes for our country… We need to integrate health into all policies. Monumental - massive and lasting; vast; impressive; significant in size and impact Shorter term gains for health and social care are possible from improving individual and community mental wellbeing. However, the medium to longer term gains are more significant . They require strategic leadership and concerted effort by health and local authority commissioners in partnership with education, schools, employers and the business community, the voluntary and community sector, regeneration initiatives, and local, regional and national government.

  16. Mental health is central to Public Health. Good mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, spiritual, social and family wellbeing. It is more than simply the absence of mental illness. Mental health is inextricably linked with physical health educational attainment and economic productivity. It is an essential resource for the long-term social and economic prosperity of society. Improving population mental health is fundamental to reducing inequalities in health experienced by disadvantaged and minority groups
