Mrs. Glasschroeder’s Guppies Newsletter January 13-17, 2014 Language Arts Spelling focus: -er words Comprehension Focus: Determining Importance, Asking Questions, Retelling, Summarizing Writing Imaginative Narratives – “If I were trapped in a snow globe…” (continued) Math Fractions Problem Solving – making a chart to solve word problems Social Studies/Science We will be learning the difference between man-made and natural resources. As well as how we use them in everyday life. Classroom Management We are still using Class Dojo, which the kids just love. Please continue to encourage your child to do their best and reach their next Dojo goal! Don’t forget that you can check your child’s progress at anytime, just by logging in with your parent account info. What We Are Doing: Important Dates: Jan. 13th – report cards go home Jan. 14th – Mrs. G out Jan. 16th – 2nd Grade Denton Community Field Trip (chaperones needed) Jan. 20th – NO SCHOOL (MLK Day) Feb. 14th – Volunteer Appreciate Evening Feb. 20th – Spring and Class Picture Day Feb. 21st – End of 4th Six Weeks Homework Tuesday through Thursday Night -Read guided reading books (record on reading log & don’t forget to record it on your Six Flags sheet also). -No guided reading questions this week. -Spelling activity of your choice, each night. -Optional: Read an extra 20 min and become a star reader! Wednesday–Math Sheet (due Thursday) Due Friday: -Weekly Spelling test Also, if your child hasn’t completed Popcorn Math, you still need to be working on that each night.  Conferences .
