  1. RTP MIB v4<draft-ietf-avt-rtp-mib-04.txt> Mark Baugher, Intel Irina Suconick, Videoserver Bill Strahm, Intel

  2. RTP MIB v4 Overview • 1. Changes from Version 3 • 2. Last Call

  3. Changes from Version 3 • Changes were motivated by • Review with Telogy and Ascend • Major changes introduced in Version 4 • Clarified differences between Monitor and Host implementations. We explicitly allow hosts to implement Monitor functionality • Explicitly allow non-consecutive indexes into the rtpSessionEntry table • Allow larger indexes into rtpSessionEntryTable (allow 2^31-1 indexes rather than 2^16-1) • rtpSessionIfAddr was removed and rtpSessionIfIndex was made into InterfaceIndex rather than InterfaceIndexorZero

  4. Last Call • 1. Reference implementation is available at http://developer.intel.com/ial/mib/index.htm • FreeBSD RTP Monitor • Windows SNMP RTP management application • 2. Propose to go to Working Group Last Call • 3. Known issues • Need to reference newest SMIv2 and SNMPv3 documents • IPv6 scrub

  5. Backup

  6. H-series MIBs and the RTP MIB • RTP MIB can be used by a variety of RTP applications • RTP MC monitor with SNMP mgmt app using SDP control • RTP management of H-series devices using H.323 control • H-series MIBs effort underway • H.323: Call Signaling, RAS, Terminal, Gatekeeper, MC, MP • H.320: Call Signaling, H.221, Entity, Terminal, MCU • H.245 • RTP MIB to be referenced by H-series MIBs • For session information, loss, delay, RTP protocol operation

  7. Background and Motivation • 1. Hastens adoption of RTP applications in business • For tracking session info, protocol operation, loss, delay variation • Fits in with standard-management platforms • Eases deployment of real-time applications • 2. NOC-based management of MC RTP applications • Permits monitoring without receiving the actual data • RTP MIB enables receiver monitoring at any sender • 3. Permits integrated management of RTP applications • SNMP mgt application for routing, connectivity, host functions • Single application used in place of bundle of tools • 4. Common solution for a variety of control protocols • loosely-coupled, H-series, SIP, RTSP
