  2. MAIN OBJECTIVES 1. Exchange of information on main issues in the standardisation field 2. Discuss future projects of cooperation and the role of the WG in the overall context of the EU-China Regulatory Dialogue

  3. COOPERATION SAC-DG ENTR. EU-Sino information platform on standards And technical regulations (proposed by SAC Delegation) Key features :

  4. KEY FEATURES * Open to all relevant stakeholders from both sides * Include a catalogue of all Chinese National Standardsand European standards * Include information on laws and regulations relevant to standardisation * Cover WTO/TBT notifications * Information on European and Chinese standardisation system * English/Chinese

  5. CONCLUSIONS/FUTURE ACTIVITIES Both sides agreed that this is a rather ambitious project and there is a need to have « some homework » done by both sides

  6. FUTURE ACTIVITIES A. EUB. CHINA * Conduct a series of* Revise project and consultations with interesteddivide into differents parts parties * Evaluate existing information* Investigate financing possibilities (EU-ChinaTrade Project) *Investigate financing possibilities (EU-China Trade Project)

  7. FUTURE ACTIVITIES WORKSHOP ON STANDARDISATION (EU) * Common event to take place in China in March 2007 * Possible topics to be addressed: = Intellectual Property Rights = Standardisation and research = Role of industry in the standardisation process = Science-technology-standards * Conclusion : = EU will prepare a proposal and examine financial aspects

  8. FUTURE ACTIVITIES TRAINING (SAC) * Needs for training on standards related issues not sufficiently covered * Reciprocity should apply * SAC will prepare a proposal

  9. FUTURE ACTIVITIES SPECIFIC SECTORAL COOPERATION (SAC) * Need to compare relevant European and Chinese standards * Identify and prioritise areas (needs from other Working Groups and other interested sectors) * SAC will prepare a proposal to be discussed during the next meeting of the Working Group

  10. ROLE OF WORKING GROUP • 1. Need to increase synergy and cooperation • between WG on standards and the other WG • (WG on standards can attend other WGs’ meeting if necessay) • 2. Many standards relatives issues are common to • all WGs • 3. Presence of expertise and competence • 4. Need for coordination to be brought to the attention • of the Plenary • To provide the common, basic and forward-looking work for • the whole standardization(e.g. EU-China Standards Platform • will serve for all the related stakeholders.)
