  2. What is a Semi Metal? • An element with intermediate properties are referred to as Metalloid, or Semi Metals.

  3. They're the same! • Metalloids and Semi Metals are the same!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Where to find Semi Metals on the Periodic table of Elements. • In the standard layout of the periodic table, metalloids occur along the diagonal line through the p block from boron to astatine. Elements to the upper right of this line display increasing nonmetallic behavior; elements to the lower left display increasing metallic behaviour.

  5. Characteristics of Semi Metals • Metalloids often form amphoteric oxides. • Metalloids often behave as semi- conductors.

  6. All the Semi Metals • There are only seven Semi Metals • Those are: • Boron • Silicon

  7. Continued • Germanium • Arsenic • Antimony • Tellurium • And Polonium

  8. Def. Of Semi Metals • Boron- an element with the atomic number 5.Its chemical symbol is B. • Appearance: black/brown.

  9. Def. Of Semi Metals • Silicon- most common Semi Metal. Chemical symbol is Si. Atomic number is 14. • Appearance:crystalline, reflective with blush- tinged faces

  10. Def. Of Semi Metals • Germanium- chemical symbol is Ge. Its atomic number is 32. • Appearance- a lustrous, hard, grayish- white

  11. Def. Of Semi Metals • Arsenic- chemical symbol of As. Its atomic number is 33. • Appearance-metallic gray

  12. Def. Of Semi Metals • Antimony- chemical symbol of Sb. An atomic number of 51. • Appearance- silvery lustrous gray

  13. Def. Of Semi Metals • Tellurium- chemical symbol of Te. Atomic number of 52 • Appearance- silvery lustrous gray

  14. Def. Of Semi Metals • Polonium- chemical symbol Po. Atomic number of 84 • Appearance- silvery
