  2. What is typhoid? Typhoid is an infection caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhi), which lives in the intestines and bloodstream of humans.

  3. Symptoms The two major symptoms of typhoid are Fever Rash Abdominal pain Weakness Causes Contaminated food, drinks, and drinking water S. typhi

  4. Treatment • The only effective treatment for typhoid is antibiotics. • The most commonly used are ciprofloxacin (for non-pregnant adults) and ceftriaxone.

  5. Tips Avoid eating at street. Drink bottled water. Do not have ice in drinks.
