  2. What is a Title I School? The purpose of Title I under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A Title I school has qualified to receive federal funding under this act.

  3. What does it mean to be a Title I School? • Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… • Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these student’s meet the State’s challenging content standards. • Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies • Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities • Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers • Being a Title I school also means parental involvement and parents’ rights.

Title I Requirements At Wesley Lakes Elementary School, we are required to: • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the Parent Involvement Plan and School-Parent Compact. • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the School wide Plan • Build parent capacity through engaging workshops and resources that assist parents in increasing student achievement.

  7. Wesley Lakes Elementary is a School-wide Title I School. In a School-wide school, all students benefit from Title I Resources.

Title I Requirements At WLE, we are required to: • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and School-Parent Compact. • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the Schoolwide Plan • Notify parents of their Right to Know their teacher’s qualifications. • Build parent capacity through engaging workshops and resources that assist parents in increasing student achievement.

Wesley Lakes Elementary School’s most recent College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Score is 66.1 • Under the ESEA waiver, WLE is not designated as a Title I Focus school. • WLE is not currently under any federal or state requirements to offer a Flexible Learning Program or other tutoring sessions.

WLE’s School Wide Program and Goals……. • Implement the Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study that will yield a student writing portfolio with three published writing pieces and increase student performance by 3%, as measured by district and state assessments. • Engage in the identification of student learning targets in the area of math to provide specific content instruction that will help increase student performance by 3%, as measured by district and state assessments.

  13. Are there Opportunities for Parent’s to be Involved at Wesley Lakes Elementary? Absolutely!! • Volunteers • Student Incentive Programs • Field Trips • Media Center • Guest Speakers • Community Outreach • Participation in various workshops • School-wide Initiatives and Projects

School-Wide and Parent Involvement Plans • Title I School-wide Plan, Parent Compact, and Parent Involvement Plan are available on our website, in our main office, and our Family Resource Center. • These documents are crafted with parental and community stakeholder input at every meeting held.
