  2. New Attendance Policy Pitt County Schools has a new “Absence and Tardy” policy. For tardiness, absences, or early dismissals to be considered "excused" you must provide the school with a doctors note.

  3. What is Read 3D? . Read 3D is an assessment tool that we use in the classroom to determine your child's reading level. Read 3D assesses your child's fluency, comprehension skills (written and oral), phonics, and word recognition.

  4. Read 3D continued. . . Your child's reading grade comes straight from our Read 3D data. When progress reports were sent home we stapled their Read 3D assessment report to their progress reports. This report showed you where your child was at the beginning of the year (when we benchmarked) and where they should have been (the goal). The last page gave you tips on what you can do to help your child reach their goal.

  5. What reading level should my child be? 1st Nine weeks- Level I or J 2nd Nine weeks- Level J or K 3rd Nine weeks- Level K or L 4th Nine weeks- Level L or above *If you are unsure about your child's reading level, please refer to the Read 3D report that was stapled to your child's Progress Report.*

  7. Math We are giving a pretest for each topic taught. Based on the needs of the class, topics will be taught in small groups or whole group. At the end of the topic a posttest is given to monitor your child's growth. Objectives increase in difficulty each nine weeks so grades can change. If they are an "S" the first nine weeks in a certain area, it may change during the remainder of the year.
