  2. Project Summary Chinese Classics & Cultural Festival The Chinese Classics and Culture Festival, organized by Centre for Chinese Cultural Heritage, was the highlight activity for the Centre to study and promote Chinese Classics. The festival, held from 5 March to 9 April 2011, included a diverse range of activities such as seminars, demonstrations, film-appreciation and discussion forum. The activities covered different focuses of the Chinese Classics, such as The Works of Mencius, The Confucian Analects, and The Book of Changes etc. Through utilizing solid research findings from a diverse spectrum of scholarly fields, the festival motivated public interests and academic education to re-establish the vanishing core values of the Chinese Classics. The festival was open to public particularly to academics and teachers as to foster discussion on the Confucius ideology, and the scholars guided the public audiences towards an understanding of the essences of the Chinese Classics. With the help of Education Bureau (EDB), the festival was documented and will be produced in DVD forms. The KTP Seed Fund was used to support the organization of the event series as well as the various means of knowledge dissemination. 3. Chinese Classics & Cultural Festival Expected Benefits The event was co-organized with two non-academic partners, including the Hong Kong Film Archive and the Curriculum Development Institute of Education Bureau which made it possible to access a much broader audience pool. A set of teaching materials will be developed which consisted of the seminars recordings, related historic writings, critical analyses and a handbook for teaching. These materials were distributed to the secondary schools, public libraries etc. for promoting knowledge of the Chinese tradition and culture. Meanwhile, the DVDs will be useful teaching materials for secondary schools in the area of Chinese Literature and Cultural Studies.
