  2. College Admission Tests • SAT- www.collegeboard.com upcoming tests: 10/11, 11/8, 12/6* *at KHS • ACT- www.act.org upcoming tests: 9/13, 10/25, 12/13 *all at LSC-Kingwood

  3. TSI Assessment College placement test • Placement exam for college courses. Prep information online. • May be exempt from taking the TSI based on SAT or ACT scores. • Students must consult with each college to verify the criteria for being exempt.

  4. SAT/ACT/TSI scores are not on your high school transcript. You will need to request that the testing agency send your official scores to the colleges.

  5. College Days • 2 for senior year. • Take before Spring Break. • Prior approval needed for: -2 consecutive days (1 college per day) -2 days to the same college -any day after Spring Break

  6. College Application Steps • 1. Complete online applications • 2. Order transcript/request forms or recommendations (if required) • 3. Send

  7. Step 1: Complete Online Applications Texas Common Application: www.applytexas.org National Common Application: https://www.commonapp.org Visit other websites as needed *We recommend that you waive your rights to confidentiality on the application.

  8. Step 2: Order Transcript Transcript only: • See Mrs. Nelson in room 1025 (front office) • $2.00 each if mailed • Have the address of the admissions office(s)

  9. Step 2: Order Transcript (cont.) Transcript and Counselor Forms/Recommendations: (including the Common Application online and Send EDU) • Make an appointment to see your counselor • Bring the following to your appointment: • Necessary form(s) • Senior information sheet • Address of admissions office(s) • $ 2 per transcript to be mailed (bring exact change)

  10. Step 3: Send • Once completed, your Counselor submits electronically or returns the forms to Mrs. Nelson. • Mrs. Nelson mails forms & transcripts.

  11. Counselor Deadlines • Two weeks are required for counselors to complete our portion. • The timeline begins on the day of the appointment and/or when all necessary materials are submitted to the counselor. * Your failure to pay attention to deadlines does not decrease our timeline for completing our portion of the application or recommendation.

  12. College Deadlines Pay attention to deadlines for: • Admission Applications • Housing Applications • Scholarship Applications *Your entire file must be complete by the application deadline!

  13. Teacher Recommendations • If needed – arrange with teachers. • Teachers need: • 2 weeks • addressed envelope with stamp if mailed • your info sheet • a THANK YOU note!

  15. Important Dates • Sept. 12: 3-week level change forms due • Oct. 3:6-week level change forms due • Oct. 6 : College Night at Humble Civic Center. • Oct. 24:LAST DAY to drop a 1st semester class not needed for graduation – no extra release & only 1 aide. • Nov. 7: Pass/Fail forms due. • Dec. 12: • Schedule changes due for 2nd semester. • Correspondence Courses/CBEs complete with final grade to KHS.
