  2. When do they celebrate Christmas? Australia celebrates Christmas on the same day as the United States. They celebrate it December 25th.

  3. Traditions and Activities In Australia they have Christmas dinner at midday on a local beach. Other families enjoy their day by having a picnic. If they are at home swimming in a pool, playing cricket out the back yard and other out door activities. Carols by candle light is held every year on Christmas eve. Santa Claus arrives on a surf board or even on a surf life saving boat. Go out Christmas carol singing on Christmas eve.

  4. Decorations and Symbols Christmas Bush, a native plant which has little red flowered leaves. Hang wreaths on their front do. Christmas Trees and Christmas lights. Colourful garlands, wreaths and lights adorn the doors and mantels, while images of kangaroos and koala bears draped in Santa and red scarves is used to beautify the greeting cards, gift tags and centrepieces.

  5. Special Food or Clothes They eat turkey, ham, or pork for dinner. They also eat Christmas a gold nugget. They usually eat at lunch time. They wear shorts a t-shirts because it Is summer time.

  6. The gift bringer Santa Claus is the gift bringer. When Santa gets to Australia he gives the reindeer a break and uses Kangaroos or six white Boomers (a popular Christmas song.) He also changes out of his Suit for less hot ones.

  7. Carols In Australia they change the words to songs we sing. They sing carols Like Deck the Sheds, Santa Claus in the Bush and Six White Boomers.

  8. Presents Friends and family give each other gifts. Santa Claus also brings them presents. The children write letters to Santa and tell then what They want.
