  1. Hunger Games 2012 Trailer Analysis By Kailum Webster

  2. Camera shots, angles and Movements Establishing shot - sets the scene. This the run down area and suggests struggles and a poorer community lives here. Two Shot - shows two characters in the same shot. Creates a steady shot and not having to move the camera to see each character. Shows them being happy and smiley even though the film isn’t a very happy film. Low Angle- Shows that what is above has authority as we are looking up to them. This shot could also be referred to as a point of view shot as we are looking at it from their position. The effect of having the sun distorting in the camera also could also symbolise god looking down on them which is strange because god hasn’t helped them get through this mess. This is challangeing meta narrative.

  3. The shot of the district with the sun shining over gives the audience an impression of hope. It could suggest that god is looking down over them, which again is the postmodern technique of challenging meta-narrative as the world they live in hasn’t been saved by religion and most things that happen in the film don’t become better which is what religion is about.

  4. Sound The sounds in the trailer is mostly diegetic sounds representing what is happening in the shots. At the beginning of the trailer its sounds of birds tweeting and Katniss talking and it's all nice sounds until prim gets picked as tribute, then the sounds change and get a deeper meaning as things start to turn bad Dialogue is used a lot. “There’s 24 of us Gale, only 1 comes out,” said by Katniss which suggests death and with the name Hunger Games, it suggests a game of survival is going to be played . Non diegetic sounds of music are used which gets more dramatic and intense as the trailer goes through. This suggests that the film is also going to get more and more intense as it goes through.

  5. Editing The editing is a mix of slow and faced paced cuts and transitions to add a sense of uneasiness. The changes in pace also change the mood of the trailer. For eg when Katniss and Peeta get called up as tributes, the cuts become fast and constant which could represent the heartbeats of both the people in the film and the audience. This also shows that the film is going to be a faced paced film with a lot of drama’s but slow times as well.

  6. Voltage sign- suggests danger which links to the film's narrative and the dangers within the film. Mise-en-scene This is showing the economic status of the people within the film a it shows quite simple houses made from wood, trailers and not much expensive stuff. Nature (a setting) urban location, far from rest of world. Suggesting
