Course Description • Introduction to Business is a course recommended for the student who wants to learn to maintain personal business affairs and to become a more competent consumer. • Areas of study included in the course are the economic systems, the organization and operation of a business, banking services, credit services, insurance protection, consumerism, money management, career planning, and the importance of computers.

  3. Grade Classification: 9, 10, 11, 12 • Credit: 1 unit • Duration: 2 semesters • Prerequisite: None

  4. Objectives Upon completion of this course, you will: • understand the main comparative characteristics of the free enterprise economic system and our changing economy. • gain information on the organization of business and its role in our economic system. • gain information on the need for well-trained workers and the necessity for considering careers in which each individual can best benefit in our society. • understand the importance of developing efficient consumer skills in obtaining and using goods and services. • obtain information and develop skills in using banking services. • obtain knowledge on the wise use and budgeting of money and the changing value of the dollar. • understand the functions and use of credit in business, personal, and family finances. • understand the different kinds of savings and investments. • understand the nature and causes of economic risks and insurance protection for the individual.
