  2. How is this energy created? Nuclear energy is made of different types of elements. Uranium is one of the most important. It is found underneath the ground and often used for mining. Fusion a nuclear reaction when the nuclei of two atoms to combine a larger nucleus. One more element is Fission- another nuclear reaction in which two atoms separate a nuclei. Involving these elements, is very dangerous

  3. Where does it come from? It comes from mining and drilling in parts of Texas, Florida, Connecticut, etc.

  4. How do we capture/control this energy? • We use power plants to control the amount by using kind of like a bank account. They limit the amount scientists use per experiment.

  5. What technology do we use? • Scientists sometimes use robotic repair hands to examine and test results. Also use advanced computers and microscopic tools to look closer.

  6. What are the start up costs? • It’s extremely expensive, it’s more expensive than any other energy source

  7. What is the recurring costs? • $7.5 billion

  8. How is energy being used in our area? • Connecticut gets about 50% of its energy from nuclear energy

  10. Where is nuclear energy used now? • Nuclear energy is used to make electricity, smoke detectors, medicine , produce heat, and has many industrial uses.

  11. What are the benefits of nuclear energy? • Some benefits include the creation of more jobs, the growth of the economy, and various goods and services.

  12. The drawbacks of nuclear energy. • This includes: • Radioactive waste • Nuclear accidents • Impact on aquatic life as well as human life. • It is nonrenewable

  13. The concerns of nuclear energy. • These concerns include the dangerous concern for life that is exposed to the radiation, the environmental damage and pollution it can cause, and the harm of radioactive material.
