  2. Summary of Seminar • Questions on Final Project • Reflections on Program Design and Evaluation

  3. Final project • Choose one of the following scenarios and write a comprehensive plan for program design and evaluation using participatory research processes. • VHab vocational training program for mentally challenged adults wants to assess the possible need for a new program to train clients as potential volunteers for various community services • Just Like Home nursing home wants to assess the possible need for a new behavior management program to prevent Alzheimer’s patients from wandering unsupervised and endangering themselves • BEST has started an after school program to serve children in the surrounding community. Recently there has been an influx of international families and the program has had several incidents of male children refusing to work with females. BEST AfterCare has only one male staff member. • Senior Care Senior Center wants to increase the number of hours residents spend in the community at special events without creating behavioral incidents that result in all participants having to return to the center. • We Care Shelter provides shelter and various services to help homeless parents with children. Many of the children have exhibited extreme behavior problems, including hitting, biting and destruction of property. The shelter understands that the children are likely to be upset by the homeless situation, but is seeking hope in ensuring the safety of others in the shelter.

  4. Final project • Separate your plan into sections related to each step of the program design and evaluation process. For each step explain its purpose and identify tools that you recommend be used to accomplish that step. • You may choose to write paper should of approximately 8-10 pages or create a PowerPoint presentation of at least 20 slides, but the plan must be thorough

  5. Final project • Make sure to use proper APA format to credit the sources you use in your analysis. For additional information, refer to the APA Quick Reference on the Course Home Page or to the Kaplan Writing Center. You must credit authors when you: • Summarize a concept, theory or research • Use direct quotes from the text or articles

  6. Scenario • Principal Kelly is now a little sorry that she requested that the board of GlobalEd to establish a Behavior Management Services Division. The planning process has created more work for her staff and she feels that ongoing data collection and monitoring is a waste of effort. Your Acme Corporation Behavioral Health supervisor is concerned that she might go to other chief operating officers in town and denigrate Acme Corporation Behavioral Health. Board members on the other hand are extremely happy with the results of the process and are expected speak well of Acme Corporation Behavioral Health's consultation services.
