Call for Nominations All members of the ESF community have an opportunity to nominate a deserving individual for the 2013 SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence, or to nominate an outstanding faculty member for the rank of Distinguished Teaching Professor or Distinguished Service Professor.  Please consider nominating a deserving individual for one of these prestigious awards. The categories for the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence are as follows: Professional Staff: Excellence in Professional Service Excellence in Librarianship Faculty: Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities Excellence in Teaching Excellence in Faculty Service Complete information about the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence can be found on SUNY’s website at: http://www.suny.edu/provost/academic_affairs/ChancellorsAwards.cfm.

Distinguished Professorships Distinguished Professor Distinguished Service Professor Distinguished Teaching Professor Distinguished Librarian Eligible faculty members are those who have: *held the rank of professor for five years *taught full time at ESF for three years *completed at least 10 years of service with SUNY Complete information about the Distinguished Professorships is available at http://www.suny.edu/provost/academic_affairs/Dist_Prof_Guide.cfm.

To Nominate Someone, Please fill out the appropriate form and return it to DanetteDesimone <djdesimo@esf.edu> by October 3, 2013, or drop it off in Room 102 Bray Hall.  The awards committee will review the pre-nominations and if approved, will subsequently request supporting documentation for completion of a full nomination by December 2, 2013.

All meetings are open to Faculty. • Approve (or deny) NEW COURSE or COURSE REVISIONS based on • Academic standards • Need for course • Consideration of inter-department conflicts of mission, etc. • Recommend (approve or deny) NEW CURRICULA or REVISED CURRICULA • Academic standards • Need for course • Consideration of inter-department conflicts of mission, etc. • Resources • Recommend new or modified (or sunset) policies related to curriculum

  18. Roles • CoC Department representative • Consults with Department, brings attention to policies and proposals that affect Department’s programs • Conveys information to Committee • Departments/Divisions prepare proposals that: • Are high quality, • Are consistent with academic policies and standards, • Address potential program conflicts, • Identify and address resource needs.

  19. Committee Role AY13-14 • Update and adopt proposal procedures and guidelines by mid-October • Review proposals on timely basis • Develop guidance for learning outcomes for Lower Division, Upper Division and Graduate courses • Update Academic policies (see website) • Maintain Website for communication
