  2. Paul Frederic Simon • Born October 13 1941in Newark New Jersey • His father Louis Simon was a bass player and a college professor. His mother was a teacher. • He was a singer songwriter, actor, composer, writer, and record producer. • His pre-Garfunkel performing name was Jerry Landis. • Influenced by the “Doo-Wap” groups of the 1950’s.

  3. Art Garfunkel • Born November 5,1941, in Forest Hills, Queens, N.Y • Studied at Columbia college • Described by Tony Schwartz in Newsweek as “an effortlessly lyrical voice that is as smooth and unfettered as any in pop music,”

  4. Simon and Garfunkel Together • Met in the 6th grade • Performed together as “Tom and Jerry” during their high school years • Both songwriters • 1964-1970 • Garfunkel sang tenor • Simon sang baritone/tenor
