Why is this sentence incorrect? It has a comma splice. A comma splice is a run-on sentence in which sentences have been joined with only a comma. What is an independent clause? An independent clause contains a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought.

  2. Comma Splice • Usually the earth’s moon is full only once each month, however, about every thirty-two months the moon is full twice in the same month, the second full moon is called a blue moon.
