Coalition Development and Infrastructure • Problem: • The communities will form a functioning coalition on their own schedule • Solution: • Community Organizers conduct “One-on-Ones” • Community Organizers invite the Key Stakeholders to participate • Evaluation: • Community Organizers document each “One-on-One” • Timeline on forming coalition • Monitoring by the head of the Intervention Team

Coalition Development and Infrastructure • Problem: • It is difficult to predict which interventions the coalitions will adopt and on what schedule • Solution: • All activities have to be from our matrix • A plan with a timeline has to be submitted before the university/coalition can receive funds

Coalition Development and Infrastructure • Problem: • The effectiveness of the coalition will be highly variable • Solution: • Extensive trainings of Community Organizers and key coalition members • Community organizing • Building a coalition • Environmental strategies • Strategic planning • Effective Facilitation • Media advocacy • Evaluation: • Intervention tracking system • Coalition functioning survey

  9. SPARC NIAAA • Web-based detailed intervention tracking that far exceeds what has been previously done • Developed from Wolfson’s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention funded studies
