  2. Monday 10/21/13 Aim: How can you create a self portrait using Photo Booth? Do now: continue hand out- answer questions about your experiences and emotions using complete sentences. Homework: Choose a new sketchbook assignment from the 25 choices, due on Friday 10/25 PTSA: If your sketch idea was selected, please use final copy paper to complete your PTSA reflections work by Friday, Oct. 25th.

Tuesday 10-22 • Aim: How can you plan the composition and style of your self-portrait? • Do Now: In a space in your notebook, create a small drawing that represents the following two words: comfort and proud Homework: Choose a new sketchbook assignment from the 25 choices, due on Friday 10/25 PTSA: If your sketch idea was selected, please use final copy paper to complete your PTSA reflections work by Friday, Oct. 25th.

  4. Use Design Principles when creating your self portrait! • Proportion/Scale: Decide how close or far to sit from the camera. Decide where to place yourself within the frame. • Rule of Thirds: Placing yourself 1/3 of the way into the frame is pleasing to the eye. Try not to photograph yourself right in the middle. • Contrast: Use the lighting to create differences in values • Emphasis: Emphasize your emotion by choosing appropriate props/colors.

Photobooth Portraits Effects: Distort your image according to shape, color, and action • Tips: • Use a prop • Use a backdrop • Step in close to the camera to fill up more space in the image • Focus on only one part of your face or body How can you show emotion using Photo Booth effects for distortion?

Abstract Expressionism Term applied to a movement in American painting that flourished in the 1940s and 1950s, sometimes referred to as the New York School or, very narrowly, as Action Painting Abstraction used to convey strong emotional or expressive content. Paul Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming on 28 January 1912 Pioneered the spontaneous pouring technique for which he became world-renowned. In his barn studio, he spread his canvas on the floor and developed his compositions by working from all four sides, allowing the imagery to evolve spontaneously, without preconceptions.
