  1. RTF Refrigeration Subcommittee April 27, 2011

  2. Agenda • Review evaluation/calibration outline • Validation Results • Subcommittee recommendation and next steps

  3. Evaluation Approach • Evaluate program savings • Provide empirical data for calibration • Refrigeration end-use • Two weeks pre and post minimum • Shoulder seasons preferable

  4. Data collected may include • Compressor and condenser energy data • Display case or walk-in energy data • EMS temp and pressure trends • GS4 audit and refrigeration schedules • Whole building interval meter data where available

  5. Sampling • Sampling unit: measures or measure bundles • 24 sites for calibration • CV of 0.3, 90% confidence, and 10% precision

  6. Timelines and Responsibilities • Launch programs using GrocerSmart 4.0 (Implementation) • Assemble evaluation team to write up detailed evaluation plan and metering strategy (Evaluation) • Collect pre- and post-project end use and whole building interval meter data (where applicable). Implementers and evaluators will coordinate to install meters at sample sites. (Evaluation - lead; Implementation - support) • Analyze the data to estimate savings for projects, measures, or measure bundles. Compare to GrocerSmart 4.0 and adjust program data. (Evaluation) • Calibrate GrocerSmart 4.0 with the data from the impact evaluation (Implementer)

  7. Validation Parameters Climates (5) CZ01, CZ06, CZ16, Portland, Seattle Test Audits w/ refrigeration sizes and counts (10) from 17 to 86 tons refrigeration Measures FHPC ASHC-LT ASHC-MT ECM Cases ECM Walk-ins 300 DOE2 calculations at this time
