  6. Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 • The Act imposes general duties on employers to secure the health, safety and welfare of people at work, and protect others against risks arising from the work activity.

Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 • Section 2(1) of the Act makes it the duty of every employer to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees. • This includes: • provision & maintenance of plant and systems of work that are safe and without risks • Provision of Information, instruction and training
