Strategic Direction • Future Networks, which includes but is not limited to the following topics • Network virtualization • Cloud computing uses network virtualisation techniques to perform IaaS, Paas, SaaS • Resilience • Trust • Autonomic management and adaptive control • Information centric networks • Integration of Web-technologies

  4. Challenges • Readiness of industry to start standardization of future networks • Have the user involved in setting appropriate requirements • Transferring research work to standardization • Different input to the network – one or multiple solutions?

  5. Next Steps / Actions • Intensify relationship with research projects • Make standards ensuring end-to-end delivery of services

  6. Proposed Resolution (Optional) • The standardisation of the NGN phase is now waiting for feedback from the projects • Move from NGN phase to Future Networks • Resolution GSC15/10 should be updated to reflect the new terminology and direction.
