  1. Are Sexologists the big deal? Hello! Vanakkam and Namaste! This is Dr Shah Dupesh, consultant sexologist in Anna Nagar. I primarily specialize in the management of male infertility and sexual health. My private practice is based in T-Nagar, Chennai were in I help numerous patients facing complicated male fertility and problems with sexual function. Why Sexual Health? Today sexual health problems are on a rampage!. Close to 1 in 6 married men seem to suffer from some form of male fertility problem or sexual dysfunction. The ASRM estimates that at any point of time close to about 45% of men and over 37% of all women are actively suffering from serious issues regarding their sexual function. Moreover, problems in one partner frequently compounds or complicates problems in the other partner. This is because most problems involving sexual function are dyadic and involve one or both partners with some degree of rub off effects. A good example would be, that a male may have an issue of premature ejaculation. This can affect the degree to which arousal happens in the female leading to lack of orgasm or satisfaction. All said and done, in the context of sexual health, treating the couples becomes more important than treating the individual.

  2. The Role of a sexologist A Sexologist or Andrologist is a medical doctor specifically trained to deal with complicated issues of male reproductive health. A good sexologist will be completely non judgemental in nature, which is a key skill required especially when dealing with patients who require psychosexual therapy.
