  2. “Studying abroad was an amazing experience that changed my life.” Process Thus Far… Numbers to ETH from KU • 6 students from US institutions have gone to ETH since the spring of 2008. • Students have primarily been from K-State (4), KU (1) and UNL (1). • No ETH students have come to KU

  3. Status of KU Exchange agreement and outcome of KU-ETH negotiations

  4. Direct Enrollment Option vs.Exchange Program Option • Less support • More complicated visa process • Later deadlines • Decreased cost

  5. Practicalities of the Direct Enrollment Option (aka: Visiting Students)

  6. When to Apply ETH Deadlines • NOTE: the earlier the easier the visa process Deadline to receive documents: Fall Term: 30 April Spring Term: 31 October

  7. How to Apply Application Materials Required • Application form • Letter of recommendation • Confirmation letter of support from ETH • Study Plan • Official transcripts • Two photos • Photocopy of passport. • Letter of Motivation Link to Application Form

  8. Visa Requirements Please note that it usually takes 6-12 weeks to obtain a visa If staying in Zurich, plan accordingly. If using support from PSI, this needs to be established BEFORE the ETH application is submitted. Proof of sufficient funds will be required where it was waived before.

Visa Application Materials • Authorization from ETH • Visa application form • Passport • Passport-sized pictures • Confirmation of acceptance to ETH • Reasons for study at ETH • Duration of study at ETH • Resume or CV • Diplomas, if applicable • Future Plans & Confirmation you plan to leave Switzerland • Evidence of Sufficient Financial Means

  10. Sample Authorization Form This form allows for the mobility office to do the first step in the visa application process. At the time of application, students should request this form so that they might avoid two trips to the consulate.

  11. Cost of study at ETH Instead of exchange cost of tuition at KU, students pay the following: • Home school fees to stay active at home institution • ETH application fee • ETH tuition fees • ETH mandatory fees (facilities, etc.)

ETH for tuition and application fee* Application Fee due at time of application* Tuition payment is due 2-3 weeks of the start of classesPayments to ETH can be made via cash, credit card, wire transfer, or a bank cheque from a Swiss bank. Student for all other costs, including health insurance Payments for Program Payments made by the grant will go to:
