  3. Federal mandates require us to implement proactive models of instruction that allow all students to receive effective instructional as well as behavioral interventions in the general education setting. THE LAW Response to Intervention

  4. Response to Intervention • The instructional approaches used within the general education setting should result in academic and/or behavioral progress for the majority of the students. • This is Tier I instruction • Quality at the Core

  5. Response to Intervention • Tier 2 • Individual or small group • In addition to core class instruction • Includes scientific research-based programs, strategies, and procedures designed and employed to supplement, enhance, and support Tier 1 activities • Approximately 10–15% of the students

Response to Intervention • Tier 3: Students who have not responded adequately to Tiers 1 and 2 receive specific, • Custom-designed individual or small group instruction • Beyond the instruction in Tier 1 • Aimed atthose students who have identified difficulties academically or behaviorally • Approximately 5–10% of the students.

Response to Intervention • Who is responsible? • Principal – Implement the model • Counselors – Schedule decisions, Specific needs • Teachers – Most Important • Provide the majority of the instruction • Observe progress • Use strategies to assist struggling students in the general setting • collaborate

  11. Elementary Math Tier III Identified by mClass, CBA, or STAAR AIT provides services SSI Use multiple data sources for identification! Tier II Identified by mClass, CBA, or STAAR Classroom teacher provides services

  14. Writing – Is required to be embedded in every course! Reading, writing, math, science, social studies

  15. Middle School

  16. Middle School Reading Tier III Identified by Lexile, CBA, or STAAR Scheduled into the class SSI iStation available for all levels! Tier II Identified by Lexile, CBA, or STAAR Scheduled into the class Use multiple data sources for identification!

  17. Middle School Writing Tier II & III Identified by Lexile, CBA, or STAAR Scheduled into the class All classes MUST follow the District Writing Plan to assure students meet the requirements of the TEKS.

  18. Middle School Math Tier III Identified by STAAR and students continuing to struggle Small group in the class or tutoring SSI Tier II Identified by STAAR Scheduled into the class

  24. High School Math Additional Resources for students SSI Review students not passing Algebra I EOC or TAKS Students are scheduled into classes 9th – FUSE (All Algebra I) & Math Models or FUSE PAP Geometry 10th – Geometry 11th – Algebra II 12th – PreCal/Calculus/AQR

  25. High School Science The teacher must meet with students requiring additional assistance

  26. High School Social Studies The teacher must meet with students requiring additional assistance
