  2. Feed the need • At the H&S Strategy meeting in late 2009 the need for a H&S system review was identified because: • The policy is 3 years old • Some problems had been identified • It’s a dynamic thing Jim, always moving, • It needed some new bits

  3. The main changes • The food safety policy has been renewed, there is a new HACCP section because EHOs kept on challenging the system (it did not quite fit their inspection form - So that’s what we have done • There is a new contractors section on the website – Matrix Safety has been busy reviewing all the contractors used by Empire to produce an ‘ approved contractors list’ • We have added a new ‘permits to work section’

  4. We reviewed • Every element of the manual, risk assessments, training and guidance were line by line reviewed and mistakes, errors and pips removed. • Updates were applied to the H&S manual • We have changed the reporting of monthly meetings (its now 2 parts and all online)

  5. Audit • There is a new audit online for 2010, following 2009 audits a full review of the first Matrix Audit was undertaken. • You can expect an audit in 2010! • There will be an advisory visit in 2010 once these changes have been embedded

  6. Contractors • A new web area • A new contractor management policy • A new contractor approval system • Online reporting of poor contractors by Cinemas • Permits to Work introduced with local approval controls in place.

  7. What you need to do when you get back to your cinema • Talk your CM who manages H&S meetings through the pre meeting checks and the online reporting system. Let them have a play in July and we will go live in August 2010. • Print out the new food safety Policy and train the new HACCP section in to staff • Note the main changes: only 1 temp check per day but YOU can elect to have more for larger Cinemas (per shift) ; remember you are checking that the equipment works not sausage monitoring
