  3. Aims of the award Promote the value of integrating Library/Learning Resource Centres into the curriculum Recognise and celebrate examples where this occurs Encourage others by the sharing of high standards and good practice Inspection purposes!

  4. Step one Meet the Beacon Criteria

Step two The CoLRiC criteria The assessors will be looking at: The liaison, involvement and consultation between the staff of the LLRC and the academic and managerial staff of the college The participation of the LLRC in the college’s information and curriculum delivery strategies The integration of the students, including flexible and distance learning students, in curriculum delivery through the LLRC The use of information and learning technologies (ILT) and information and communication technologies (ICT) through the LLRC.

Shortlisting August / September • At least 2 assessors assigned to the award • Testing against criteria • Visits to shortlisted colleges • Make the most of the visit • Use a variety of methods to demonstrate your project e.g. • activity for observation • presentation, • focus group • something really imaginative that sets you apart! October • Assessment and final selection by AoC assessment board

  8. Winners Winners announced at AoC annual conference in London January – April: the winner holds a local awards ceremony February: AoC Beacon Awards national presentation ceremony
