  2. What We Will Learn Today • What to say if you have to call 9-1-1 to get help if you have an emergency and need help right away

  3. We have already learned that: • An emergency is when something is dangerous and you need help right away • accident • fall • fire • You should only call 9-1-1 if you have a real emergency

  4. We also learned that: • We should learn to use every phone in our house

  5. Some of our phones might have a dial that looks like this

  6. 3 4 2 5 1 6 7 0 8 9 • And some of our phones might have a dial that looks like this

  7. What should you do if you have an emergency? • Call 9-1-1 • Not 9-9-1 or 911 • there is no eleven on the telephone dial

  8. When someone answers, tell them: • Your name My name is Johnny or Susie Smith • What your emergency is There is a fire in my house • Where your emergency is My address is 101 Smith Road • Where you are calling from I am calling on a cell phone from my meeting place at the mailbox OR I am calling from the neighbor’s house • Remember to be calm - don’t be afraid • Rememberto speak slowly and clearly so the operator understands everything you say - then listen for the operator’s instructions

  9. When should you call 9-1-1 • Report an accident • Report a fire • always get out first and call 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house or a cell phone • Report a serious injury • If you are in danger

  10. Remember - You should call 9-1-1ONLY if you have an EMERGENCYand need HELP!
