  1. KNOW THE IMPORTANT OSHA RULES AND REGULATIONS OSHA has made some rules and regulations to ensure the safety of the forklift driver and for the people working in the workspace. Violating these rules can lead to infractions and fines of the warehouse. Not just that, violation of the regulation is also a danger to the employees working near the forklift. Therefore, we have listed some of the OSHA forklift regulations, which should be considered by every forklift owners as well as the drivers to make sure that the workplace is safe and secure from any forklift accidents. FORKLIFT OPERATOR TRAINING - All forklift drivers need to get proper forklift operator training along with a certification that shows his/her knowledge about the equipment- it's handling, attachments, and their specific jobs. Also, it is essential to consider that the training is OSHA-compliant and includes all the instructions that are vital to know before operating, loading, and unloading a forklift and more. Once the operators are done with the certification, an occasional performance evaluation is also necessary to update them with new advancements in the vehicle. FORKLIFT AGE RESTRICTIONS - Operating a forklift under the age of 18 is a severe offense and is against the law, with few exceptions for family agricultural businesses. So, employers need to check the age of a forklift operator before hiring employees and assigning them tasks. OPERATING VEHICLES IN THE PROPER MANNER - It is reported that most of the accidents happen when forklifts are in operation. And these mostly occur because of forklift overturning, overweight lifting, a person being crushed, pedestrian being struck, and a fall from a forklift that's on a grade or dock. Therefore here we have listed some of the guidelines that can help to prevent these accidents and to keep the employees safe-

  2. To avoid tip-over, operate the forklift at a safe speed and give adequate time to the driver to safely stop. Slowly approach the crossways by the drivers, where the view is obstructed. Use horns in crowded areas to let the workers know that a vehicle is moving through the area. Ensure to turn the forklift carefully as tip-over are most likely to happen at that time. Also never try to turn on a grade. While the forklift is moving, do not raise or lower the forks. FORKLIFT MAINTENANCE - Forklift maintenance is one of those aspects which should be done regularly, to ensure the safety of the employees and to make the vehicles run well. It is the duty of the company owner to inspect the forklifts daily to avoid any damage. Some of the things which should be checked on a regular basis are: Fluid levels Tires and brakes Electrical systems Any leaks in the forklift These are some of the things that should be kept in if you have a forklift in your workplace. Violating these OSHA forklift regulations can result in a considerable amount of fine to the forklift owner as well as the operator.
