  4. Confidentiality • Employees sign a confidentiality statement annually • Faculty (and staff) salary information is extremely sensitive and extraordinary care must be taken to ensure that this information is never shared

  5. Transition from FASERS to ecrt • FASERS • Extremely manual, labor intensive process • Tracked faculty effort based on 2 situations • Supplemental/summer salary charged to awards • Effort commitments made to sponsors not associated with salary charges in G/L

  6. Transition from FASERS to ecrt • ecrt • Consistent practices across the university • Less labor intensive • System is based on salary charged directly or cost shared on awards • Faculty salary charged &/or cost shared available throughout the year

  7. Transition from FASERS to ecrt • Issue • FAS and SEAS do not record faculty salary cost sharing in the G/L • FY 13 faculty certifications will not be complete • Solution • Faculty will certify their effort associated salary in ecrt • For FY13 ONLY, any faculty who have effort that is not associated with salary will receive a secondary certification statement sometime later this Fall/Winter

  8. New Effort Policy • One university wide policy with an associated procedures manual and ecrt training materials • Policy reviewed by HERSCI steering committee and Operations & Policy committee • Currently circulating to departments and SALC

  9. Proxies and Designees Proxies (for faculty annual certifications) • Only granted in extenuating circumstances • Exception is 6030 – Research Associates • Approval required from Tub and OSP • Form is being finalized • Form required annually Designees (for quarterly staff statements) • Requests made to Tub Effort Coordinator • PI and Designee must sign form • Forms associated with grants on a Fund basis • Existing forms will be uploaded to ecrt
