Function of the group/Customer base • Function of the group: • Our goal is to support the missions of the Johns Hopkins institutions by providing reliable communications and information sharing technologies to the enterprise. Our approach is to provide scalable, highly-available solutions that satisfy the needs of large communities within Hopkins. • Customer base: • Anyone in the enterprise can use our services.

Projects/What is supported • Collaboration -> Anthony Snead • Provide real time communications beyond email to enhance productivity and work processes. • Accomplish this goal through the introduction of technologies that support web-based team/workgroup collaboration. • Technologies: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. • Perimeter Email Services -> Anthony Snead • Provide a comprehensive perimeter email hygiene infrastructure to serve as initial layers of defense against email-based virus, phishing, and SPAM attacks. Provide standards based directory lookup services integrated with JHED/Active Directory to properly route email within the Hopkins enterprise. • Support technologies and processes that aid in compliance issues associated with e-Discovery and email encryption. • Provide infrastructure to front-end Microsoft-based service offerings with application layer firewall technologies.

Projects/What is supported • Mobility -> Sean Taylor • Provide services that enable the use of modern PDA’s including Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and iPhone through various service offerings provided by enterprise messaging. • Provide basic security architecture for managed PDA’s that adhere to institutional standards pertaining to security and acceptable use. • Assist in the development and implementation of standards that govern the use of mobile devices in the enterprise. • Technologies: Blackberry Enterprise Server, Microsoft Office Activesync

Projects/What is supported • Host – based email -> Ying He • Provide low-cost, reliable, Unix-based email services to Hopkins faculty, staff, and students using a variety of client access methods. • Provide education, assistance and support for customers using these services. . • Technologies: Sun Microsystems software/hardware, EMC SAN • Mailing List Services -> Ying He • Enable mass email communications through the use of web-based technologies that provide ease of use and integrated recipient lists from external data sources. • Provide education, assistance and support for customers using these services. • Technologies: Open Source (Sympa), Linux, HP,

Projects/What is supported • Client-based email/GroupWare -> Erik McGrath • Provide client-based email and calendaring to the Hopkins enterprise using the Microsoft Exchange 2007 platform. • Provide core infrastructure components that benefit all facets of the system including those supported outside of IT@JH.. • Technologies: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Commvault (archive), Dell, EMC
