  1. The 4 Cornerstones of Good Health

  2. Micheal Murray ND • A revolution is occurring in health care. • As our understanding of the environment and the human body evolves, new ideas develop.

  3. The old ideas were that the human body was like a machine.

  4. New ideas focus on the interconnectedness of the body, mind, emotions, social factors and the environment. • It is a combination of all of these factors that determine the statue of our health.

  5. Old Ideas vs New Ideas

  6. Symptoms • Symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong and should not be ignored. • Symptoms should be viewed as the body’s attempt to heal, while the causes can spring from physical, mental-emotional, spiritual, social and other factors.

  7. Prevention • Prevention is absolutely the best cure.

  8. Antibiotics • When used appropriately, antibiotics can save lives. • However, antibiotics are grossly overused. • Some conditions can be treated with natural remedies. • When antibiotics are overused it leads to chronic candidiasis (bactieria imbalance in our gut) • Overuse of antibiotics can also lead to the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria (Super bugs!)

  9. World Health Organization • The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being not merely the absence of disease”

  10. How about you? • If you want to be more healthy simply make healthy choices. • The health practices and lifestyles of our parents usually become intricately woven into the fabric of our own lifestyles!

  11. Responsibility • The first step in achieving and maintaining health is to take personal responsibility. • The second step is taking the appropriate action to achieve the results you desire.

  12. 4 Cornerstones of Health • A Positive Mental Attitude • A Healthy Lifestyle • A Health Promoting Diet • Supplementary measures

  13. 4 Cornerstones of Health = 4 legs of a table • If you want a table to remain upright when stress is placed on it then the 4 legs must be intact and strong
